Mexico objects to the head of the UN over Ecuador’s embassy attack.

April 12, MEXICO CITY (Xinhua) — In a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday, Mexico condemned Ecuador’s police raid on its embassy in Quito, according to the Mexican Foreign Ministry.

According to a statement from the ministry, Mexico’s permanent representative to the UN, Hector Vasconcelos, delivered the letter, which denounces “the serious violations incurred by the Republic of Ecuador on April 5,” through the deputy secretary general for Legal Affairs of the body.

Shortly after granting former Ecuadorian Vice President Jorge Glas political refuge, Ecuadorian police stormed Mexico’s embassy in Quito, forcing Mexico to cut diplomatic ties.
