Outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, a man sets himself on fire

The Washington Metropolitan Police Department released a statement on Sunday stating that a man has set himself on fire in front of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC.
“The Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 3500 block of International Drive, NW, at approximately 1pm, to assist the United States Secret Service after an individual set themselves on fire in front of an embassy in the block,” the police department said CNN in a statement.
According to MPD, the adult male was taken to a nearby hospital by DC Fire and EMS and is still in critical condition.

The Israeli Embassy reported that “no embassy staff were injured and are safe” and that the man’s identify is unknown.
According to Vito Maggiolo, a public relations officer for DC Fire, the US Secret Service had already put out the fire by the time firemen arrived on the scene.
In order to look into the event, MPD is collaborating with the Secret Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
