U.S. Embassy extends its condolences in response to the tragic fire outbreak at the Baku Perinatal Center

Regarding the recent fire incident at the Baku Perinatal Center, the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan has sent condolences, as Trend reported. The embassy expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the four young children who perished in the fire on its Twitter page. They also sent their best wishes for a speedy recovery to everyone who was hurt in the incident.

The Republican Perinatal Center, located on Yusif Safarov Street in the Khatai district of Baku, caught fire on January 8. After obtaining the required medical care, the conditions of the three patients who were hospitalized for smoke poisoning have stabilized.They will be released for outpatient care according to the plans. Tragically, four infants in the center’s neonatal critical care unit passed away.

The General Prosecutor’s Office’s Investigation Department opened a criminal case in response to the tragic incident under the applicable provisions of the Republic of Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code, addressing the disregard for fire safety regulations and negligence that resulted in the deaths of two or more people.
