On January 12, a delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar, headed by Ambassador Tran Duc Hung, visited and provided words of encouragement to the Vietnamese football team. This visit took place just two days before the team’s inaugural match at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup finals.
Ambassador Tran Duc Hung was incredibly proud of the Vietnamese football players who were competing in Asia’s premier football tournament. He stressed that the Vietnamese population in Qatar as well as fans in Vietnam are expected to provide the team with a great deal of motivation. Ambassador Hung expressed his desire for the team to play with unbreakable resolve, solidarity, and the traditional Vietnamese spirit in every game, with the goal of achieving the best possible outcomes and hitting their predetermined aims.
Head coach Philippe Troussier gave the embassy the team’s shirt as a token of appreciation for their unwavering support, highlighting the squad’s unwavering devotion to conquering every obstacle during the competition.
The official lineup of the 26 players chosen for the upcoming championships was revealed by Troussier after the training session on January 11. The 2023 AFC Asian Cup finals are scheduled to start on January 12 in the evening at Lusail Stadium in Doha.
Vietnam’s first game in Group D is scheduled to take place against Japan on January 14 at 2:30 pm local time (or 6:30 pm Vietnam time) at Al Thumama Stadium. Vietnam’s next two matches are against Indonesia on January 19 and Iraq on January 24.
