Kurdish President, U.S. Embassy Charge d’Affaires discuss regional relations and stability

Shafaq News / David Berger, the Charge d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Iraq, met with Nechirvan Barzani, the president of the Kurdistan Region, on Sunday. The meeting’s main topic of discussion was the US relationship with both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Presidency.

“They also talked about the wider picture in Iraq, such as the impending elections and the latest events in the Kurdistan Region.”

“The significance of holding Kurdistan’s parliamentary elections was underscored by both parties, emphasizing the need for agreement and involvement from all political parties and people. They also concurred on how important it is to keep Iraq peaceful and stable, according to the statement.

Along with the general state of affairs in the area and other subjects of common interest, the gathering also addressed issues like the federal system and the implementation of the Constitution in Iraq.
